Therapy FAQs:
Sessions, Telehealth, Fees, and Confidentiality
Here you’ll find answers to the questions I’m asked most.
-
Starting therapy can feel both hopeful and a little intimidating. The intake process is designed to be thoughtful, collaborative, and individually paced. There’s no expectation to share everything all at once. We move at a rhythm that respects your nervous system and allows trust to develop over time.
We typically begin with an initial consultation where we talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and whether working together feels like a good fit. Early sessions focus on getting to know you—your history, relationships, and current stressors—while also paying attention to how you experience safety, connection, and emotion in the room.

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly.
Many clients submit my monthly invoices to their insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to understand your specific out-of-network benefits.
If you have questions about fees or reimbursement, we can discuss them during the consultation.

Individual psychotherapy provides a dedicated space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. You’ll work collaboratively with me to understand past and present issues, heal emotional wounds, manage stress, and enhance your overall quality of life. Through developing self-awareness and effective coping strategies, individual therapy empowers you to move toward personal growth and more fulfilling relationships.
-
Session time is reserved specifically for you. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours' notice are charged the full session fee.
This policy helps maintain consistency in the work and supports a reliable therapeutic space for both of us.

Sessions offer space to deepen insight, explore patterns, and work with emotions as they show up in real time—both in your life and in our work together.
Rather than following a rigid agenda, sessions are guided by what feels most important or alive for you. Over time, therapy often becomes a place to notice relational patterns as they emerge, try out new ways of responding, and build greater capacity for self-understanding and connection.
-
Yes. Confidentiality is a core part of therapy. What you share is kept private, with only a few limited exceptions required by law, such as situations involving serious risk of harm to yourself or others.

I offer therapy sessions via secure video conferencing, allowing you to meet with me from the comfort of your own space. Telehealth sessions are conducted in real time and follow the same structure and approach as in-person therapy.
Before your first session, you’ll receive simple instructions for accessing the video platform. You’ll just need a reliable internet connection and a private, quiet place where you can speak freely. Many clients find telehealth to be flexible, accessible, and just as meaningful as meeting in person.
